Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Real-Life Tales of Black Girl Magic
(Part of the Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls Series)
By Jestine Ware and Diana Odero

2020

Commissioned by Rebel Girls, they tasked me with creating empowering illustrations of Aretha Franklin and Viola Davis. For Aretha, I captured her soulful essence and musical genius, reflecting her status as the Queen of Soul. Viola's portrayal embodied her strength, versatility, and trailblazing success in acting, highlighting her inspirational journey and achievements. Both pieces  celebrate their monumental impact and legacies, inspiring young girls with their stories of resilience and excellence.
